Researcher at the Centre for Educational Research and Intervention (CIIE) and retired Professor at FPCEUP. Organizer of the Helena Sá e Costa Centenary Exhibition and recitals at Casa Moreira de Sá e Costa (2013). Together with her brother Henrique L. Gomes de Araújo Helena participated also in a project to digitize the works of composer Luiz Costa, in cooperation with João Pedro Mendes dos Santos, aiming at loading them onto the official website of Casa da Música, Porto, according to the Christine Wasserman Beirão Catalogue.

Helena has more than one hundred scientific publications in national and international magazines and books. She has supervised several doctoral theses and coordinated numerous national and international research projects. Her publications in the field of music include “Leonilda Moreira de Sá e a construção de uma careira artística, no contexto das relações de género, no final do século XIX” in Helena Marinho (org) (2019), O Diário de uma Jovem Pianista Portuense: Leonilda Moreira de Sá, 1899.
